enables any Wireless enabled device to have access to the Internet,
over a dialup (analog), or broadband (digital) Internet
connection.
It works work with any WiFi wireless enabled device
(laptop, desktop or PDA). The WiFlyer emits a wireless radio signal
to any WiFi enabled laptop, desktop or PDA and permits that device
to connect wirelessly to the Internet when the WiFlyer is dialed
into an Internet Service Provider. The router can be connected up to
300 feet away from the WiFlyer.
The WiFlyer dialup router currently supports 128-bit WEP encryption and Mac Address Authentication. (WiFi Protected Access
(WPA) is to be added Q4 2004) Additionally, a variety of Internet security,
antivirus and firewall software will work as they usually do with any network connection.
Router Limitations:
Currently the only dial up ISPs that do not work with the WiFlyer
are:
ATT Globalnet Service (ATT Worldnet service works fine)
Compuserve and Compuserve2000.
In order to use the WiFlyer with AOL, your screename must be
shorter than 10 characters. This is an issue with the authorization
scheme AOL uses to log users in. If your screename is longer than 10
characters, simply create a different screename to use as your
WiFlyer screename. You can still continue using your original
screename for email, instant messaging, etc. To find out more about the WiFlyer Wireless Dialup Router or to purchase a router, goto Wiflyer information. |
